A 2023-2024 educator grant made a significant impact on the students at the Littleton Public Schools NOVA Center. The $5,000 grant supported students in three different areas.
First, the grant provided crisis hygiene kits for students displaced from their homes or experiencing homelessness. The kits include shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste and toothbrush, deodorant wipes, body wash wipes, hairbrush and comb, and chapstick. The kits give students dignity during a difficult time.
Additionally, funds from the grant helped purchase NOVA-branded gear for the students, which instilled a sense of pride in their school instead of feeling "othered" and at a "different school." Students now proudly wear their NOVA shirts at school and in the community.
Last, grant money was used to purchase new art supplies, 3D printer filament, and PE/Fitness equipment so students could access equitable electives. The NOVA program supports a small population of students, so their elective options are limited. This grant expanded student options and introduced them to new outlets.
NOVA Program Coordinator Emily Nickerson says, “We are so thankful to be able to support our students in unique ways because of the LPS Foundation grant.”When you give to the LPS Foundation, you genuinely make a difference for students and support outstanding educators.
