Bridging the Digital Divide Student Story

Carson, a Littleton High School band student, is tasked with composing and performing an original piece with three classmates. To complete the assignment, the students use an internet-based program.  Students have time to work on the project in class but often communicate outside of class.

As Carson gets ready for bed one night, he is struck by an idea that will bring the song's theme to life. He grabs his Chromebook, makes the change, and shares the updated song with his group. They “talk” back and forth, perfecting the piece. The next night, they do the same thing. Eventually, the group presents their song to the class.

If Carson and his group did not have Internet access, they would not be able to collaborate as easily or elevate their composition.
