Melodies of Success: How Your Support Brought Piano Classes to Students

Kids in a music classroom in front on keyboards making heart shapes with their hands

Imagine walking into the music room at Littleton Academy. You might first hear the soft clicking of keys as students get familiar with their new keyboards. Then, the tentative melody of a simple piece begins to fill the space; each note is a small victory for the students learning to coordinate their fingers with the instrument.

In between moments of sound, you’ll hear the guidance of teacher Melissa Anderson as she offers tips and encouragement. This joyful noise, created by 28 Casio keyboards purchased for 4th and 5th-grade students highlights the impact an educator grant can make. Littleton Academy’s PTO also contributed to the effort.

Beyond the technical skill of playing an instrument, the benefits of music education are wide-reaching. Numerous studies highlight that music instruction helps improve cognitive abilities, boosts memory, and enhances attention. The group piano class offers these benefits while nurturing a creative outlet for students who may not otherwise have access to formal music instruction.

Ms. Anderson shared, “We are thrilled to be able to offer this class, and it would not have been possible without your generous support.” Your giving to the LPS Foundation makes stories like this possible. Thank you!
