In our January 2024 newsletter, we told you about an educator grant that brought highly sought-after graphic novels to Goddard Middle School.  This month, we’re highlighting a grant that gave art students at Littleton High School a chance to create their own graphic novels with help from an expert.

LHS Visual Art Teacher Melanie Rapp invited University of Colorado Denver Film Studies Professor Dr.  Andrew Scahill to lead a workshop that explored the world of graphic novels, which are a unique form of storytelling using images and words. The students wrote and illustrated their own graphic novels with the knowledge they gained. This experience gave young artists valuable insight from an industry expert and showed them different paths they might take in the creative world. Ms. Rapp said that the students loved the experience and have requested more visiting artists and photographers.
