A Path to Peace for our Youngest Learners

Students at Runyon Elementary School are learning to resolve conflicts with the help of “Peace Paths.” The paths, created by student ambassadors and teacher Kelly Thiel, along with school social worker Jo Ellen Fountain, guide students through a series of questions to clarify an issue, express feelings and find solutions. Each grade level received a path, and a larger version of the path was added to the playground space.

The students learn valuable lifelong skills as they navigate the path, including self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness. Sounds like a great list to us!
