Unlocking Math Concepts through Gaming

Math games

Who says math isn't fun? No one in Ms. Nelson's class at Options High School. That's because, each Wednesday, students in her class put aside their calculators and reach for strategy board games that enhance their knowledge and make math fun. Ms. Nelson purchased the games thanks to an LPSF teacher grant.

In addition to solidifying math concepts, the games encourage students to be information seekers, problem solvers, data collectors, and broad thinkers, which are all excellent lifelong skills. They also teach collaborative learning and leadership skills. Ms. Nelson says that the students love their new games and continually ask to play them.
